Red, Platinum, and Blue Label

Formal pictures are great, but nothing beats a good #selfie! DAR, The Daughters of the American Revolution, has become more that just some club I joined. On top of the countless charitable works I am so proud to be a part of, I have built some of the best friendships. The best part of those friendships is the great span of ages and backgrounds of the ladies.

My mom, her mom, everyone’s mom

I have only seen a couple episodes of Gilmore Girls so I have no idea how DAR is portrayed in the show, but my guess is a bunch of stuffy old ladies meeting to sip tea. I’m not saying there isn’t tea or a couple stuffy old ladies, but that is far and few between.

Kiss kiss

There are mothers and daughters. Sisters. Ladies from southern states and northern states. East coast and west coast. Old friends and new friends. Introverts and extroverts. History buffs. Genealogy experts. Active military, veterans, heroes, and warriors. Ladies with careers and ladies who manage the home. Travelers and homebodies. The nerds, the jocks, and the pageant queens.

Smile and look cute!
Ok, now be funny

Among all those differences I can guarantee you that you will find a friend with something in common. You will also discover something wonderful and new from someone who may be your complete opposite. Surrounding yourself with different people, with different views and strengths, will make you a stronger person.

Coffee for me. Coffee for you…if you ask nicely

One thing that we absolutely have in common is that we are women helping women. We support each other’s passions and are not successful unless we are all successful. Fundraising goals have been exceeded in a day because of the belief in the cause.

Wait, wait, we gotta take a #selfie!

William Tyler Page (1917)

I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.

I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag and to defend it against all enemies.
