WTF is an armpit detox, you ask? I asked Google the same thing. But let’s start with how I got to detoxing my armpits.

I finally made the decision to switch to an all natural deodorant. This is a big step for me. I sweat…a lot. Like when it’s cold I still sweat. I don’t really think I can pinpoint a day during high school when I didn’t have wet pits. Lots and lots of teen trauma here people.

So fast forward to the age of 36 and I think I might finally be comfortable with the fact that I sweat. And with all moments of wisdom, and you realize that what you are doing isn’t working, you figure out you just need to start from scratch to be successful.

Over the past year I have noticed that I had been applying and reapplying anti-perspirant deodorant several times a day. Not only was I still sweating I still smelled. I don’t think I smelled so bad that I was clearing the room, but I still felt gross. I switched 4 different types, but they were all name brands. And full of chemicals.

So back to scratch I went and I started with my trusted Amazon.com and customer reviews. While reading reviews people kept mentioning that the switch to all natural deodorant when smoother if they did armpit detoxing. This is to help cleanse the chemicals from your armpit pores.

After a bit of Google research I found it is really just a standard detoxing mud mask with equal parts bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar, and water.

Don’t a metal bowl or utensils to mix or apply. I was able to repurpose one of the boys’ plastic bowls and “knife”

One table spoon of clay, water, and apple cider vinegar made enough for me to cover both armpits and some of my face. Unlike reports from others on the inter-webs, I did not feel uncomfortable or stinging. It was just a typical cool clay mask. It was admittedly difficult to multitask since I really couldn’t put my arms down.

It sure did make for an interesting selfie

It’s only been 2 days but I’m so far very happy with my all natural deodorant choice. I picked Underarmed by Super Natural Goods

Love that it’s made in the USA in Tennessee! Love the personal packaging! And I love that I can order it on Amazon.

While there is zero scientific proof that detoxing my armpits is going to make me healthier, it sure isn’t hurting. What I do know will make me healthier is to stop putting harsh chemicals on my skin and so close to lymph-nodes.

Have you switched to all natural deodorant? Ever tried an armpit detox? Leave me a comment- I would love to hear from you!
